There will be a variety of trees being used in the celebrations including; Eastern Redbud, Flowering Dogwood, Loblolly Pine, Red Maple, Shumard Oak, Southern Wax Myrtle, River Birch and White Oak. Since the event began in 1977, developers and sponsors of the Arbor Day Celebration have given away approximately 938,000 tree seedlings! By doing so, they hope to encourage the continual growth of the forest scenery found throughout The Woodlands.
If helping the planet wasn’t a prize enough, you can also register to participate in hourly drawings. The winners will receive one of five, seven-gallon native trees.
